Just curious what would go here and what they’re used for?

Everything discovered on a network accessible to MAAS is initially treated as a device. If you later provide BMC credentials for one of these devices and register it with MAAS, it becomes a machine. Some devices may not be manageable by MAAS (for example, those without supported BMCs), but they will still appear in the Devices section for visibility
