MAAS snap tracks and channels

Hey MAAS devs, do you have any plans or thoughts about publishing separate snap tracks for 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 to give snap users a bit more long term stability? The Juju team has decided to use multiple tracks now for their 2.3 and 2.4 line which is making life easier for us with slow turnaround times. Hi Sandor,

We do have plans to create tracks for the MAAS snap. At the moment, the plan is to create a 2.3 track, and we will follow the approach we’ve been taking with LTS’, where we would only have tracks for those releases we also maintain as debian packages, until we completely transition to snaps.

That said, the reason why there hasn’t been a split yet is because we are working on resolving upgrade issues from 2.3 to 2.4 when postgres is running inside the snap. This is because 2.4 snap is based on bionic base which introduces a new version of postgres.

Hope this helps.
