MAAS bind9 listening options

Is there a knob to control which interfaces the bundled bind9 daemon listens on? Or possibly a way to inject custom options so I could set listen-on 53 {...}?

My usecase is coexistence of LXD and MAAS on the same host, and have LXD manage the lxdbr0 bridge. To do this, LXD starts a dnsmasq service on lxdbr0 to provide DNS reso, but if MAAS’ bind9 is hogging that interface it won’t be able to come up.

Hi, nope you can’t customize it from MAAS itself. You might want to use debs if you want a more granular management of the services and you should also be able to customize the global bind configurations

Ok, I presume this would entail editing the bind9 config in /etc/bind/named.conf.options installed by MAAS

Is installing from the ppa something you’d recommend for production use?

Thanks!

We usually suggest to use snaps because they are much easier to deploy/upgrade/maintain, but we also support debs so yes
