Intel NUC as a Node, fails to continue after OS deploy

I have a stack of Intel NUC’s, wanted to perform a POC.
4 core 8G RAM and 1T drive in each.
They commission fine, then I try to bootstrap juju, where it fails.
MaaS deploys the OS, Ubuntu 18.04 fine, then reboots, PXE catches it and hands off to the Node to boot the OS from the local at a “boot:” prompt, where it stops.
If I reboot and select the drive from the boot menu, it boots the OS fine, but the juju controller doesnt complete.

Am I missing something obvious, or is a NUC incapable of running as a Node?

I have 3 or 4 different models of NUCs some with Intel AMT and some without. All I have been able to get working as MAAS nodes. I initially had some issues getting things to boot and provision in a consistent way, but now almost never have troubles so, it should be workable, hang in there. I can check it you are still having issues but I believe that two of the problems that I was having were:

  • PXE was not the top choice in the boot order, I think it needs to be.
  • The Bios was set to legacy bios, I had more luck with UEFI.
