machine fails to commission BMC query., MAAS 3.5, ubuntu 24, ibm x336

Failed to query node’s BMC - Connection timed out while performing power action. Check BMC configuration and connectivity and try again.

does anyone know how to correct this.

I’d suggest to

  1. check that your BMC credentials are correct
  2. check with IPMI tool that you are able to power on the machine manually
  3. ensure the IP address of the BMC is correct
