Custom storage - don't touch existing partitions

Hi all

I’m a bit confused by the “custom” storage layouts. Is it possible to create a custom storage layout that keeps certain existing partitions intact?

More specifically, I want MAAS to install Ubuntu on partition sda2 and leave sda1 intact.

For more context, I’m using MAAS to deploy rpi devices very similar to this tutorial: Build your own bare metal cloud using a Raspberry Pi cluster with MAAS

I’m trying to figure out if I can remove the need for a USB stick, and just have MAAS use a second partition on the memory card.

If you don’t want MAAS to wipe some disks you have to remove them from MAAS (using the UI for example) or physically.

MAAS will use/wipe all the disks that are known to it

I want it to use that disk, just not all partitions. Is that possible?

No, this is not possible.
