Can't deploy Ubuntu newer than Bionic if using bond interfaces - SOLVED

Hey MAAStronauts,

A known bug prevents the deployment of Ubuntu versions newer than Bionic when the machine uses a bonded network interface to communicate with the MAAS rack or region controller.

For reference, here’s the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/2106671 . The fix is ongoing and will be available in the next images published in images.maas.io.

Thanks for heads up! Seems like a really breaking change in cloud-init caused that!

A new jammy stable image with the fix is available on images.maas.io.

Also for noble a new stable image is available.

Also focal is out. This issue is completely resolved now.

Hi !

Not here, and I cannot see a newer image than 2025-06-18 here:
https://images.maas.io/ephemeral-v3/stable/noble/amd64/20250618/ga-24.04/generic/

And it doesn’t work, but this time at the pivot root stage in initramfs. So I even can’t know if network work.

There is daily images in https://images.maas.io/ephemeral-v3/candidate, today:
Index of /ephemeral-v3/candidate/noble/amd64/20250627/ga-24.04/generic

PS:
How can I test candidate images ?
Is the only way to manually download, and import image via CLI ?

You can change the boot source and point to the candidate stream. However that image is out since 10 days and nobody reported any issue, so there must be something broken in your env.
