Adding power control to Devices

Something that would be extremely useful to us is if we could power control devices that are:

  • Not allocated to a specific user
  • Not machines capable of supporting deployment
  • Connected to PDUs
  • Unable to power cycle themselves via a management interface
  • Only accessible to admin users

This is presently solved by manually cycling via the PDUs themselves, but as these systems are already tracked as devices in our network the ability to centralize power control entirely inside MAAS would be a major win.

How do talk to PDU in your case? Does it provide HTTP API or there a special CLI tool?

In my case the devices use the same PDUs as the machines that are already managed by MAAS. We’re using the rPDU driver in MAAS to control them.
