Unable to locate configuration file

For some reason, when PXE booting servers I’m seeing

Unable to locate configuration file.

Within the MAAS server logs (/var/snap/maas/common/log/rackd.log) I’m seeing the following

We have an external windows DHCP server with options 66 and 67 configured
option 66 is set with the IP address of the NIC that sits on one of the network interfaces
option 67 is set to “/pxelinux.0”

running MAAS version: 3.1.0-10901-g.f1f8f1505

hey, @cmills, can you please post a pcap of the DHCP/PXE interactions here? and whatever it is that’s giving you the “Unable to locate configuration file” ? thanks.

Hello Bill,

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m currently on vacation and I’ll reach out to my colleague about getting you this iformation

Hello Bill,

We were able to resolve this by downgrading the servers interface (dell) firmware version to an earlier version this allowed us to PXE boot the server through PXE through the BIOS.

PXE is a…fascinating…experience.

Yeah, well I thought I was going to try to update the MAAS kernel (don’t know how to do this) to try to fix the problem from that end but we stumbled on this fix.
